Duolingo English Podcast
Thank you for considering pitching a story for the Duolingo English Podcast! You will find everything you need to know in this guide.
The Duolingo English Podcast is a brand new bilingual show that offers intermediate English language learners an opportunity to practice their listening comprehension through compelling, true audio stories, as told by their protagonists. These stories will exemplify some of the most exciting and diverse aspects of life in the Anglo-Saxon countries, especially the United States.
Each episode features two short, personal, and compelling stories under a single topic. In each of those stories, the main character tells their story in simple, slow English, and the host intervenes now and then in Spanish to help the listener follow the story. The format is entirely narrative, so you will have to think of a story arch from beginning to end.
We have put together a complete guide with everything you need to know about this call for pitches: types of stories, formats, production, scheduling, and payment.
Who can submit a proposal?
This call is open to native English speakers (or anyone wishing to tell the story of a native English speaker) with experience in journalism or writing.
We also accept proposals from anyone who has a first-person story to share. We have editors who can write them!
We are solely looking for real stories that have been lived by real people. While journalism experience is considered a plus, it is not necessary to have experience with podcasts or audio content.
